The Desktop Satellite is an application for receiving live digital information feeds right on your computer without having to do anything! The satellite uses push technology that requires nothing more of the user than simply starting the software running. Textual and graphical information is automatically pushed from the servers to the Desktop Satellite, updating its displays.

The information is provided by an affiliate and displays are customized, so the information is local and more meaningful to you right from the start. Users have the ability, through custom settings, to tailor the information to their own individual preferences.

Currently, the Desktop Satellite comes with a weather information module. And that's just the beginning. More modules for additional types of information (News, Sports, ... ) are under development and will be added in future releases.

The weather information available through the satellite consists of live current variables like Temperature, Relative Humidity, Dew Point, Wind Chill/Heat Index, Wind Speed & Direction, and Barometric Pressure & Tendencies. Users can also display Extended Outlook Summaries, Detailed Daily Forecasts, Doppler RADAR Storm Activity, Almanac Records, Weather WebCam, and automatic Local and National Weather Service Alerts.

See the features page for a more comprehensive list of what the Desktop Satellite can do.

For users, there isn't a simpler way to keep up with the local weather.

For affiliates, the Desktop Satellite provides an effective way to reach your audience and get your information to them. Primarily designed for the media industry television, radio, and print the software can also be used by companies, educational institutions, and organizations with large or distributed members -- any business that wants to keep their members informed with the latest data.

Because of its platform-independent design, the Satellite is a viable solution for organizations with different types of computers and operating systems.

Affiliates can brand and customize all displays and information within the Desktop Satellite. The Desktop Satellite servers offload the demand from your own hardware.

In addition, advertising revenue streams are available to the affiliate.

Developed in the Java Language, the Desktop Satellite runs on all popular operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Unix variants (including Linux).

The Desktop Satellite was developed in-house at Quadsimia.
